Flashcards for Kids

Shichida is famous for incorporating high-speed flashcards into all its enrichment classes, making learning dynamic and exciting.

What is a flash card?

A flashcard is a simple learning tool consisting of a card with information on one or both sides, typically featuring a word, image, or question on one side and the corresponding answer or explanation on the other. Flashcards are used to reinforce memory, learn new vocabulary, or practice skills through quick, repetitive review. They’re effective for learners of all ages, especially children, making learning fun and engaging.

High-speed flash cards

Why do Shichida flashcards go so fast?

Flashing cards quickly helps train your child’s photographic memory and speed reading skills. In the right brain education method, flashcards are presented at a rapid pace – typically between 1 and 0.5 seconds per card – to stimulate the brain’s natural ability to absorb and retain information effortlessly.

There are four main reasons why we use high-speed flashcards:

  • Activates the Right Brain: The right brain processes information rapidly and subconsciously. High-speed flashcards engage this ability, enhancing learning efficiency.
  • Enhances Image-Based Processing: Flashing cards quickly trains the brain to process information as images, strengthening visual memory and comprehension.
  • Strengthens Left-Right Brain Connection: Pairing images with spoken words bridges the right brain’s visual processing with the left brain’s language skills, improving overall cognition.
  • Expands Vocabulary: Fast-paced flashcards introduce new words and concepts, reinforcing memory through multisensory learning and encouraging early reading skills.

What age can you start flashcards?

You can start using flashcards with your child as early as six months old. At this stage, babies absorb information rapidly, and visual stimulation helps develop memory, recognition skills, and a strong foundation for learning.

Baby flash cards

At Shichida, we know that even though babies cannot speak yet, they can understand language. When they become verbal, they will have a much larger vocabulary due to the number of flashcards they have been exposed to. To ensure the babies can see the cards, we show the flash cards for babies slower than toddler and kinder classes. Baby flash cards are also larger than the ones used for toddler and kinder age groups.

Large flashcards are paired with a song to teach weather concepts to young children.

Toddler flash cards

Help your toddler explore important basic concepts with our learning flash cards. Flashcards for toddlers make learning easy by linking numbers to quantities and words to objects and animals, ensuring clear concept recognition. Plus, our high-speed flashcard method is one of the most effective learning techniques, boosting memory and recognition skills effortlessly!

Flashcard topics for fun learning

Our flashcards cover a wide range of exciting and engaging topics! Easily learn phonics, sight words and new vocabulary. Learn about the world, including animals, dinosaurs, transport, space and food. Explore flags, countries, geography, famous artworks, historical figures, emotions, actions, colours, geometric patterns, 2D & 3D shapes – and much more!

Why are flashcards helpful in early learning?

Flashcards are an effective and engaging tool for young children because they leverage visual learning, repetition, and active recall to reinforce new concepts quickly. Their bite-sized format helps babies, toddlers and preschoolers absorb information in a way that feels natural and fun.

The high-speed flashcard activity is a favourite part of each class for both children and parents!
