The first 1000 days of a child’s life are widely recognised as a critical period for brain development. During this time, neural connections are rapidly forming, laying the foundation for future learning, behaviour, and health outcomes. Children learn rapidly and easily during this Sensitive Period of growth. The Shichida Method early learning program helps them not only hit developmental milestones, but also enhances their abilities before this peak learning window closes.
Diverging from the approach taken by most kids’ learning programs that emphasise the left side of the brain, the Shichida Method takes a different path by stimulating both the left and right hemispheres. By doing so, it encourages growth and facilitates neural connections in all areas of the brain, thereby yielding a more comprehensive and well-rounded developmental outcome.

Our early learning programs:
During Shichida Australia kids learning programs, your child will not only enjoy activities tailored to their specific age group, but also to their ability.
The well-researched methods of teaching concepts include engaging activities, for example, flashcards, mazes, tangrams, worksheets, songs and memory-enhancing play-based games.
We employ a layering approach in our lessons, which enables us to guide your child seamlessly through their developmental milestones. This method involves gradually increasing the complexity of the activities over time, ensuring that your child is consistently challenged and engaged throughout their learning journey. Ultimately, this approach leads to more robust and long-lasting results.

The Shichida Method is an innovative early childhood education approach developed by Makoto Shichida, a renowned Japanese educator.
The method is based on the idea that young children can tap into their immense learning potential during their “Sensitive Period” of development. This method involves fun, engaging activities that aim to enhance a child’s cognitive skills, emotional intelligence, and neural connections by stimulating both sides of the brain.
Recognising the critical early years, Shichida Australia focuses on ‘whole brain’ training to maximise children’s natural learning capabilities, fostering a lifelong love for learning.
The Shichida Method aims to nurture well-rounded children by developing both their brain power (IQ) and emotional intelligence (EQ), setting a strong foundation for life.
Here’s what kids can gain from Shichida:
Improved memory, problem-solving abilities, and social connections all prepare them for academic challenges and lifelong fulfilment.
Here’s how our early learning program brings a wealth of benefits to your child:
Boosted Cognitive Abilities: Enhances memory, focus, and problem-solving skills crucial for school success.
Emotional and Social Skills: Develops emotional intelligence and social interactions, helping children manage feelings and build relationships.
Creativity and Expression: Encourages creative thinking and self-expression through imaginative activities.
Foundation Skills: Lays a strong groundwork in numeracy and literacy, smoothing the transition to formal schooling.
Sensory Development: Sharpens sensory perceptions, making children more intuitive and observant.
Love of Learning: Instils a lifelong enthusiasm for learning by making education enjoyable.
Parent-Child Connection: Strengthens family bonds through interactive and engaging parental involvement.
These advantages equip children not only for academic achievement but for comprehensive, well-rounded personal development.
The Shichida program caters to children from infancy through early childhood, structured across various developmental stages:
Baby Program (6 months to 1 year): Focuses on sensory development and motor skills with activities like songs, play-based learning, and large flashcards.
Toddler Program (1-3 years): Aims to develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills using interactive tools like songs and flashcards, alongside play-based learning with a parent.
Kinder Program (3-5 years): Enhances learning through critical thinking, problem-solving, and language development with memory games and creative activities.
Children enrolled into the Shichida program before they reach the age of 4 ½ years old can advance into the pre-primary and primary programs which further enrich their developing cognitive abilities.
Pre-Primary Program (5-7 years): Prepares children academically, enhances responsibility, and builds self-esteem through memory training and visualisation techniques.
Primary Program (7-9 years): Develop advanced academic and social skills, focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication to ensure readiness for future success.
Yes, your child can attend a trial class. Each trial session lasts 50 minutes and is specifically tailored to your child’s age group. We maintain small class sizes with a limit of only six children per session to ensure personalised attention. The trial session costs $65.
Shichida classes are 50 minutes and are held from Monday to Saturday with the following schedules:
We operate with a dynamic schedule. This means that not every age group has a class option at the same time every day.
Once enrolled in a suitable timeslot and age group, the parent and child will attend class once a week in that timeslot for the term (and continuing terms).
